After an extremely bumpy start in 2014, 343 industries made it through steady support in the form of updates, corrections and new content to turn the rudder around and Turn Halo: The Master Chief Collection into a handsome overall package.
Now the publication of Halo Infinite is in front of the door, which according to the developers the setting of the current Season model of the Master Chief Collection will have. As explained in the new Halo WayPoint contribution, the Halo collection will continue to be supplied with new content and updates in the future, but these are smaller and less frequent.
In what way Halo: The Master Chief Collection is supported in the future and what the reasons for the decision to set the Season model, 343 explains as follows:
With a view of the future, we have led many conversations about how we can best support MCC as soon as the free multiplayer by Halo Infinite is started. We have agreed on two important points: First, we have to do more MCC work and the support will continue; And second, as a studio, it is not ideal to create and deliver seasonal updates for two different multiplayer tracks at the same time. While we have a lot of other updates - including further content, corrections and functions - the way they are provided is expected to change. From next year we want to remove our current seasonal model and our cadence to focus on smaller MCC updates instead, which can start based on the development status and orientation of the Studio Roadmap as soon as they are completed. These updates will continue to be free and contain the unpublished functions and content from this year - as well as continuous efforts to improve stability and to tackle older bug fixes. We still have much good to deliver in 2022.
