Biathletin Linn Kazmaier has run at the Paralympic Games in Beijing to its fourth medal. The only 15-year-old landed with Guide Florian Baumann in the visually impaired class without shooting mistakes after 12.5 km only 3.6 seconds behind the Ukrainian Oxana Schischkowa in second place. Middle distance winner Leonie Walter secured with Guide Pirmin Strecker Bronze.
"It gets more beautiful with every medal," Kazmaier said, "We had a great race. I did not fool myself, I have given my best. When silver comes out, it's all the better."
Kazmaier had to leave Schischkowa already at the beginning of the race in Zhangjiakou. Since her counterparty did not make a mistake on the shooting range, the catch-up hunt remained, despite a homelanded mileage and, above all, bear strong final round. Previously, Kazmaier had already run in the sprint to the silver medal, in the cross-country skiing she had occupied the second and third place in the sprint and through the long distance.
Walter also stayed without shooting errors. However, the 18-year-olds were clearly to note the turbulent and exhausting last days. The residue on Schischkowa was 2: 04.8 minutes. "I'm just happy again," Walter said to her third medal. Johanna Recktenwald ran with Guide Valentin Haag with four shooting errors on the ungrammable fourth place.
Anja Wicker missed the podium in the sitting class. The 30-year-old Stuttgarter, who had bronze over the middle distance, was fourth in the third place for the victory of the American Oksana Masters despite error-free shooting with over two minutes behind the third place. "It was a good race, I'm very happy," Wicker said.
